Big Girl Bed

We've finally done it, Molly has moved out of the crib and in to her bed! I was a little worried about it because I've heard so many horror stories and because she's in such a huge bed, but she's done great! She's never had trouble at night time (she doesn't get out of her bed at all) and she tested the waters the first two days at nap time, but hasn't gotten out again (so far) after some serious talks about staying in the bed. The first day she got out of bed I could hear her playing with her toy kitchen (or "chicken" as she calls it) Kathy gave her for Christmas, so I went back and opened the door. As soon as she saw me she said "Whoops!" because she knew she wasn't supposed to be out. I had to turn around and laugh for a few seconds before I could compose myself and get serious with her. I attached some pictures of her new room because she has the most spectacular furniture. I got the whole set (bed, dresser, night stand, and chair) for $200 on Ebay! You can't tell too well from the pictures, but there are flowers carved into the head board and the drawer pulls on the dresser and nightstand are carved leaves. The drapes and bedspread didn't turn out nearly as well as I had hoped, but I guess when I sew few things do...

Zips

Molly has a few pairs of blanket sleeper pyjamas (or "zips" according to Molly) and she loves to wear them. I'm pretty sure it's because she thinks the zipper is a wearable toy. I'm not sure if the unzipping takes place at night before she falls asleep or in the morning after she wakes up, but either way they are always unzipped when I get her in the morning. One morning they were completely off except for the feet!

New Camera!

My parents got me a sweet new camera for my birthday so I've taken a lot of random pictures to test it out. I don't think I have found even half of the features yet, but the ones I have used are awesome!

Molly with ruined tights after a fall in the mud at Joe's Barbeque (I think I'm the only one that cared)
Molly loved the birthday hats Jessie got for my birthday party for about 30 seconds-I took another picture 5 seconds later and the hat was already off!
I don't know what Chris fed her for dinner but all of it is stuck in her teeth!
Molly thought she needed a piece of candy before church. She can hear the lid on that green candy jar open from any room in the house!

First Time Out

Chris and I decided that we needed to start getting Molly used to time outs because they were probably going to become a little more necessary once Claire is born. She wasted no time giving me an opportunity the other night when she started dumping her vegetables on the floor at dinner time, which she is perfectly aware is not allowed. A gave her a warning, then she did it again and we had a time out on the tile by the front door. I explained the rules of time out and she didn't move a muscle for the 1 1/2 minutes she had to sit there. I kept waiting for some fussing or movement or something, but she was completely frozen. After it was over I talked to her about what had happened and she had the saddest look on her face and her lip was quivering, like she was about to cry any minute. I felt so bad that I had hurt her feelings, but apparently the time outs are going to be quite effective for her. I'll be curious to see if she will always act like that for time out or if she will start screaming once she gets used to the idea...

ABC's

The past couple of weeks Molly has become obsessed with the Dr. Suess's ABC's book, and we usually read it twice or three times a day. Normally this would get irritating, but because of it Molly knows the alphabet! She recognizes every letter, and even points them out to me on t-shirts, water bottles, in the tub, or whatever else that is hanging around that has letters on it. I think she'll be the one reading stories to me in no time!

The Longevity of an Exersaucer

Starting out a little too young (four months)...

And still going strong a little too old (yesterday - approaching two years)!

We're getting all of the baby stuff out again in anticipation of Claire's arrival, and Molly thinks she's hit the toy jackpot! She doesn't last very long in the Exersaucer, but she still thinks it's pretty novel that she can sit in a special seat and be surrounded by toys.
