Random Happenings and Conversations

Here are a few strange things the girls have been up to:

Yesterday I was loading the kids in the car. The routine is to open the garage, I load Claire in first while Molly finds odd things in the garage to play with, then I help Molly in. Yesterday while I was putting Claire in her seat I heard "Mommy! Mommy!" I hear this many, many times a day so I was slow to react, but when I looked up Molly was hanging from the garage door as it was going up. I can't be sure what happened, but I think she thought it might be interesting to grab it while it was down low, then by the time she realized she needed to let go it was too late. I caught her around the waist before it got to the top, but I really can't even say what a bizarre sight it was to look up and see Molly dangling in the air. She was definitely upset (scared not hurt), and once I knew she was okay I couldn't help but laugh because it was so completely bizarre.

Claire put her first couple of words together last week. Whenever Chris looks like he's headed for the garage, Claire starts waving at him like a mad woman. Last week in addition to the waving she added "Dadda work." Her vocabulary is getting pretty extensive these days, thanks partly to a cheapy dollar spot book she's obsessed with. It's only about four pages, and has pictures of toys, food, and household items. If she ever finds it laying on the floor she shouts "Book! Book!" and brings it over to me to stop whatever I'm doing to read it. We also read stories together at night and Molly gets to pick a few and so does Claire. When we're all sitting on Molly's bed, Claire flips out until it's time to read this particular book. Even if I'm reading a different book that she picked up it's not good enough, it has to be THE book. Last funny story for Claire: Yesterday at my parent's house we had homemade ice cream for dessert. Claire and I shared a bowl, and once it was gone she said "All gone," not seeming particularly distressed about it. But I hadn't had enough, so I got a refill and when I came back she started flapping profusely and shouting "Yea, yea, yea!!" at the top of her lungs. She definitely has her mother's sweet tooth.

A couple of months ago Molly was looking out the window to try to get a glimpse of the garbage truck in live action. For no particular reason she turned to me and said "I'm telling you the truth, caterpillars eat leaves on Sesame Street all the time, don't you know?"

Last night we were all in the car and I was harassing Molly a little bit by singing "Murry Has a Little Lamb" from Sesame Street. I knew she was getting irritated but I thought she still was having a good time until she burst out with "Hey you buster, you stop singing that song to me!" A buster? I'm sure it can't be good whatever it is, but once she realized we thought it was funny we were all busters the rest of the way home.

First Pig Tails

These aren't the greatest pictures, but you can kind of see the two teensy pig tails sticking out the bag. At church she had a headband on to keep all of the top hair under control, which was much cuter. She looks so much older with pig tails, I almost hate to put them in!

Missing Amelia

My sister Jessie and her family were here visiting from Pennsylvania for a few weeks, and Molly loved having Amelia here. Molly mostly gave Max (her former best friend) the cold shoulder while Amelia was here.

One of the highlights of the trip was Amelia's new Chrissa American Girl Doll. Chrissa and Samantha (Molly's doll) played together, took naps, and got their hair curled.

Yes, that is a special cape Samantha is wearing to get her hair curled.

Roommates

A few months ago my old roommates and I finally got together for dinner - almost all of us (except Lizzie and Zoe) live in the valley and we still hardly ever see each other. It was so much fun to relive the glory days!

Missing Lizzie and Natalie, and Amber left before the picture...

This was our sweet house and the park that was right across the street. We were less than a quarter mile away from ASU! I'm pretty sure all 7 of us lived there together at one point. I lived in the garage that was converted into a room, with no closet, so all my stuff was in another room across the house. It was worth it!
