Around the House

Molly got a hold of my camera and took this picture of Claire. Not too bad!

The girls are pretending to be "old ladies." The major components of the outfit are the kitchen towel headdress and dirty sock on the arm.

Eating caramel apples. Total disaster but really fun.

Claire tried several different methods of attack, but finally gave up and just gnawed on my leftover core and stick.

New bone jammies! Every year I want these but have never gotten them. This was finally our year!

Penny's still in our room, but she's getting kicked out any day now. And she absolutely loves the bath!

Penny's Blessing

We blessed Penny last Sunday, October 10th. As usual, we didn't get hardly any pictures of the day, but we got a few getting ready and Penny got portraits in her dress. Her headband actually started out as a bonnet. It was enormous, so I butchered it to make the headband. It was very difficult for me to chop up the bonnet because it was so beautiful, but it really was totally unusable.

These first portraits I didn't order but they gave to me for free because they had overcharged me. After seeing this first picture the photographer actually told me it was time for a manicure! She was right, but still...

I actually ordered these ones, although I didn't love how any of them turned out. But you get what you pay for at the Target Portrait Studio!

The night before the blessing I put the girls' hair in sponge curlers. Molly has used them before and done fine, but I was a little nervous about Claire. She can be pretty feisty and I thought for sure she would have them all pulled out as soon as she got in her bed. But I was happy to be wrong when she woke up in the morning, all curlers in tact.

Trying to keep busy waiting for our 2:30 Sacrament meeting.

Fresh out of the tub!

Chris's parents were generous enough to let us have dinner at their house after the blessing. Our little house couldn't accommodate all the family we were lucky enough to have attend.

I took Penny back to the bedroom to feed her, and she was so happy to have a break from the chaos!

Soccer Update

It took four games, but we finally have success! The second soccer game Molly wouldn't play the first half, then she agreed to play the second half as long as I was holding her hand playing with her. I also promised her a pair of soccer cleats if she played; I noticed her interest in another girl's "spiky" shoes and I took advantage. The third game she held Chris's hand for the first half, then agreed to try playing without holding his hand, but still having him on the field, with the promise of a McDonald's ice cream cone if she tried. Then by game four she was finally ready to strike out on her own. She did great! She had a few really good kicks, and came very close to scoring a goal. The coach also told me that she is very fast for her age, which I believe because I have to work pretty hard to beat her at a foot race these days (not sure if that speaks highly of Molly or poorly of me. Probably both.).
